Jolla's Knife Iron

The
holy grail of club builders has always been the design of an iron
that has the power of a blade and the forgiveness of a cavity
back. Many have tried, but none have been able to hit that magic
formula
until now, that is. La Jolla Club Golf Company has
ended the search with the introduction of their Knife irons. The
big idea: three shallow blades on the sole of the club act as
hydrofoils when the head strikes the ground, thereby reducing
deflection and greatly improving accuracy and distance. By keeping
the club "steered" through the bottom of the swing,
a more controlled ball flight is virtually guaranteed, even on
off center hits.
Sounds
great, but does it really work? Like a charm. We tested a set
of Knife irons with a regular flex steel shaft and were blown
away by the way that they hit. The three-blade technology does
a great job of keeping the swing steady no matter what the hitting
surface. And since it cuts through the divot rather than digging
in, you never lose loft even in the thickest rough. There is also
noticeably less energy transfer into the ground, which means almost
all of your power goes into the ball, where it should.
The
Knife irons also implement a tungsten ring back weight which provides
a low/back center of gravity for higher trajectory, longer, straighter
shots, and more consistency on off center hits. Add this to their
vibration absorption ring on the back of the club and you really
do have a solid-striking iron that feels like a cavity back.
Bottom
line is if you're looking for a set of irons that will improve
your accuracy without sacrificing power, then La Jolla's Knife
irons have you covered. Available in 3 through Pitching Wedge
or Hybrid and a 5-iron through
Pitching Wedge (right handed only), for about 350 to 400 dollars
you can pick up a set wherever clubs are sold or at one of the
dealers listed at www.LaJollaClub.com.
